Exciting Updates for Microsoft SharePoint Admins: Enhanced PowerShell Capabilities

In the ever-evolving landscape of Microsoft SharePoint Online, staying ahead with efficient tools is essential for admins. We have some exciting news that will enhance your ability to manage tenant-level data with ease. Microsoft is rolling out a new PowerShell cmdlet, designed specifically for SharePoint and Global Admins, which will allow an effortless review of tenant-level usage data for the SharePoint agents trial.

New PowerShell Features Coming Soon

Starting on March 1, 2025, the PowerShell cmdlet Get-SPOCopilotPromoUsage will become generally available. This powerful tool will enable SharePoint admins to retrieve and review detailed usage data at the tenant level, providing insights into total trial queries used, the number of queries remaining, and available queries within the tenant. Importantly, this report will track historical data from the inception of the SharePoint agents trial in January 2025.

How Organizations Will Benefit

Once the cmdlet is live, SharePoint administrators will need the updated version of SharePoint PowerShell, version 16.0.25813.12000, to access these functionalities. This update promises to streamline operations by offering a more comprehensive understanding of usage patterns, enabling proactive management and optimization of resources.

Preparing for the Rollout

The integration will occur automatically on the release date, ensuring a seamless transition without requiring any immediate actions from admins. However, it’s prudent to evaluate your current configurations to see how these changes may affect your operations. We recommend notifying your administrative team of this update and ensuring that any necessary documentation is updated to reflect these changes.
