Rollout Timeline

The rollout will occur in two phases:

Impact on Your Organization

The new feature integrates category shortcuts into the Outlook environment, similar to the classic Outlook experience, where shortcuts can be assigned to function keys from CTRL+F2 to CTRL+F12. These pre-set shortcuts will be transitioned to the updated Outlook for Windows. It’s important to note that this feature will be available exclusively in the new Outlook for Windows.

Users will be able to manage category shortcuts in the Outlook settings under Accounts > Categories. Here, a new column titled Shortcut will help in assigning function keys to existing shortcuts using the pencil icon:

Additionally, while creating or modifying a category, users can now designate a new category shortcut:

This feature is activated by default, ensuring a seamless transition.

Preparation Steps

The update will be deployed automatically as per the schedule, requiring no administrative intervention before or after the rollout. However, it might be beneficial to inform your users about this update and revise any necessary documentation in advance.
